I Told You So

“I told you so” words that we bite our tongues on but think when we’ve warned people or given them advice & then they do not follow that advice & suffer afterwards.

Sadly this year & last I’ve had to bite my tongue a lot more than I have in the past years while I’ve watched several friends & family members get into situations that could have been avoided if only they had listened to me to either take steps to entirely avoid or at least mitigate problems that were snowballing.

What is most annoying is when I’ve tried to give advice to some people who are in some “groups” that have been Stuck in a Rut. Fussing & complaining about the way things are but they actually seem to like being “Stuck in a Rut” because they do not have to be.

What is the definition of “Insanity”? … wasn’t it something about “Doing the Same things over & over but expecting “Different Results”? but rather than doing something different & possibly having success there are those who are getting angry & digging their heels in, to not only stay in the rut but working hard to keep you in their rut as well…

Well NO Thank You! I’m NOT willingly going to be to staying in your rut. I’ll be fighting & trying new things & new twists on things until the very end. I’m telling you once again that it’s not too late to make the changes that are needed to get into a winning place. It may be hard but just being hard is not a good enough reason to not try at all.

Be willing to learn new ways & try new things & do so with the idea that “Hey this will be interesting to see the results” rather than with a defeatist attitude “Nothing will work so do not even bother to try”

The picture below… is from Opening Day at Total Win in West Hartford… New for me is I’m trying to learn about the various types of wine one inexpensive bottle at a time – the reason for the picture – the sculpture is made of CHEESE now that is Doing Something Different & was a success for the Artist as well as the Store Owner & Employees

Tiny House Adventures in Spring

Just came across this blog of a couple here in CT that are building their own Tiny Home.
It’s so cool that they can tow their home like a camper but it looks like a house instead of a camper once it’s parked.
It’s been a bream of mine to get an RV & travel across the country even before I discovered the internet & now have friends in literally all across the country to go visit.
The Tiny Home would be nice to have as a traveling home & pick up a piece of land in warmer climate to go settle on during the winter months when we get older & the idea of having all that snow to deal with wouldn’t be so nice…
I plan on following their blog to see how they progress as they build & compare costs to just buying a RV instead.

Our Tiny House Construction Since 2013

Hello everyone,

Our tiny house is not even finished on the inside yet but it has already visited three different corners of Connecticut – Fairfield, Putnam and Westerly.  Towing it was a lot of fun and we are very relieved to realize how easy it is.  If you are here because you have seen us on the road, please do not hesitate to tell us. 🙂

So, why were we driving around Connecticut in a big circle anyway?

On Saturday, April 25th,  we met a group of people from Tumbleweed Tiny House Company’s workshop at a Service Center along I-95 in the Southwestern part of the state.  Towing our tiny house for the very first time was connected to an enormous variety of emotions. The first ones were fear and tension because we were afraid of making mistakes, damaging our house or even getting pulled over by the police…

Sad State of Affairs

This is one of those posts both personal & political…

A dear friend is going through that mixed emotions of secondary empty nester as her adult son leaves the state.I say secondary because our adult children were already out of our nests but living here in the state only a town or two & a phone call & less than hours drive away…

We’re proud of our children who have grown up into young men & women that are making their own ways in this world; but we are heart broken that our young men & women are finding it so bad in our state that they are having to move out of CT in order to find better paying jobs in states that aren’t robbing them blind in taxes.

ct highest cost of living

Like I said this both personal & political & now for my rant as it makes me angry that so many people merely vote on the party line without thinking about why they are voting nor asking if what the pipe dreams being promoted by the democrats is in fact actually possible – wake up people nothing is free someone has to pay for it in money & time & energy & at a certain point we run out of people to take money from to give to those who are merely taking without earning.

The rich started leaving our state years ago because they can afford to move anywhere so once the income tax was put in place those people just changed the location of where they claimed as their state of domicile.

The past 4 businesses have been leaving at an increasing rate & along with those businesses good paying jobs & tax paying families. With each major business closing or leaving the state that has affected smaller supporting businesses around the state. Less businesses = less jobs = less taxing families to pay the state’s increasing spending which makes the state increase the taxes on the rest of us to make up the difference instead of cutting spending.

So our children must leave the state they’ve grown up in to find good paying jobs & affordable homes to purchase for their families. Sad to see them go we send them off because we know that in other states they will have a better chance for success than if they were to stay here in CT.

Will we see our grandchildren for more than 2 weeks out of the year? Sadly it’s not likely with our children moving out of the region to find better lives. It makes us angry that our children have to go out of the state to find a decent job & affordable homes to purchase all because the career elite democrats refuse to listen to us taxpaying citizens & only care about making their friends richer by increasing our taxes to pay for the sweetheart deals they’re making.

Are You Taxed Enough Already?

Retrospective on Board of Education Spending

Watching the BoE meetings on the cable tv at night can get the blood pressure raised.
We are getting stuck with higher taxes because the democrats want to waste more money & they aren’t making the education any better for our children they are just wasting money on the newest shiney imported overpriced circus toy that breaks soon after taking it out of the package. Unlike when the circus comes to town where we try to distract the children away from the outrageous cost we parents & homeowners can’t change the channel & try to pretend the circus is not in town right now with all of it’s clowns & circus acts & shiney expensive toys that look pretty but offer nothing of value.

It’s very sad to watch both at the state & the town level budget process as the people are being lied to about costs & need.
Why does it seem that the only way that democrats can get things pushed through is to lie & the people do not bother to question those lies? When will people start asking the questions that need to be asked & call out the democrats when they exaggerate or in some cases (too many cases) out right lie?

This year’s Board of Education budget process has been challenging. There have been substantial changes in the way the budget is being presented this year. The most noticeable difference being the greater amount of information being provided. For example, personnel positions that are paid for through grant funding, and never reported in the BoE budget book, are now included by site and department.

With this greater degree of transparency, there have certainly been some growing pains. I call them growing pains because it’s difficult to accept and adapt to change. I know that for me the change in reporting has certainly thrown me for a loop, but I greatly appreciate the commitment that our Superintendent, Dr. Cooke, and his cabinet, have made to provide the public with all the information. Instead of, as we have clearly seen, making moves behind the scenes to…

Summer Scams: Tips from AARP

Please be careful & DO NOT Open Your Doors to anyone that you have not called to your home…
Today 2 men that were in NESCOR caps were on my street knocking on doors & claiming to offer “Free Home Energy Audits” – were they real I do not know but I talked to them through the storm door which was locked & I shushed “Big Head” but when he came back down the stairs hair raised on his back I did not send him away because if he felt the need to come back down to stand by me it was good for those men to know that any movement towards the door put him on ALERT Protective status…

Were they legitimate I don’t know & do not care, I told them to send any material via snail mail & told them to hang their door hanger on the door & I’ll get their info from it – the door hanger will remain there until my husband gets home

The way that I look at door to door salesmen, if they are legitimate they’ll have info they can give you or mail you if all they want is your information to try to gain access to your home then then they aren’t legitimate & no amount of “We’ll Save You Money” is worth opening your door & letting in strangers because they are scammers either trying to rob you outright or by tricking you into an over priced project that isn’t worth the cost of ink & paper that they con you into

The government doesn’t have “salespeople that go door to door” for their tax credit programs & any company that is sending people out door to door trying to con you into opening your door is a scam legitimate companies are too busy working & they are getting their work from their listings in the yellow pages & their websites.

I just wish I had brought my camera with me so I could have posted the picture of the men who came to my door so others could be alerted to who they are & why they they are stopping by & for the record if in fact they are criminal scammers

We missed the parade but we are going to try to make it down to the Windsor Shad Derby

If you want some fun there’s still some time for family friendly fun going on at the town green.

We forgot it was this weekend & we got busy moving stuff around in the basement so we’re debating do we have time to shower after we finish the items that need to get done to attend

Want to see if they have the dunk tank set up & if so who got dunked

12 Civil Rights Groups Oppose Opting Out. It Could Have Been 28.

I am wondering if these groups are not actually aware of the harm which these tests & common core is doing to the minority children?
Or have they sold out our children too?

On May 5, 2015, twelve civil rights groups led by the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights issued a statement “opposing anti-testing efforts.” In short, these groups are confronting the growing strength of the Opt Out/Resist the Test movement.

These groups are the Leadership Conference on Civil and Human Rights, the American Association of University Women (AAUW), Association of University Centers on Disabilities (AUCD), Council of Parent Attorneys and Advocates, Inc. (COPAA), Disability Rights Education and Defense Fund (DREDF), League of United Latin American Citizens (LULAC), NAACP, National Council of La Raza (NCLR), National Disability Rights Network (NDRN), National Urban League (NUL), Southeast Asia Resource Action Center (SEARAC), and TASH.

I wrote about their statement in this May 5, 2015, post, entitled, Opting Out Interfering with the “Civil Right” of Testing?

When I first read the May 5, 2015, statement by these 12 civil rights organizations that are defending annual testing even in the face of nationwide standardized-testing overuse…

Life is Changing Quickly

Who knew how much our lives could change in only a few short years?

This time last year I was merely a member of my RTC helping our local town council & board of ed members get elected, this year…. well surprise surprise I’m an actual candidate for state senate. LOL who saw that coming? I didn’t see it but I have gone ahead & made the choice to take an active part in the political process & work to make positive changes in our government at the state level.

Seeing politics from the eyes of a civilian that has not been politically active, it has been quite an eyeopening experiencectgop constitution dont mess with it abe lincoln quote Not just about the all the things which go into trying to run a campaign but also the process of it all. It’s been both a positive thing as well as negative in seeing just how dirty our elected officials have been in making certain that they stay in power.

I’m not liking the nastiness from people who have been friends fighting over their candidates, I do now understand why people say the 2 things never to talk about are politics & religion – some of the things I’ve seen & heard by people who have been at rallies together & picnics & bbqs… well some of it is way past mean & hurtful but down right heartbreaking to see from people that I respected & once held in high esteem

I’m also saddened by just how many people in the state do not even know what is going on but actually chose ignorance because they do not want to take an interest but only complain about what is wrong & nothing at all to fix it

So LIFE Changes Quickly sometimes for the better sometimes for the worst

We have choices in some of the changes & others we do not.

The most important thing is like the well known Serenity Prayers says “Change the Things that We Can”; I’m not 100% sold on the idea of accepting the line about “Accepting the Things We Can’t Change” because I’m not 100% sold on the idea that there isn’t anything that can’t be changed in some manner by Prayer & by Action of some sort

I pray that people near & far take some time to seriously consider life & what it offers & start to get active in it & start making positive realistic changes (0;} will you join me on the journey to make at least 1 positive change in life?
