I Told You So

“I told you so” words that we bite our tongues on but think when we’ve warned people or given them advice & then they do not follow that advice & suffer afterwards.

Sadly this year & last I’ve had to bite my tongue a lot more than I have in the past years while I’ve watched several friends & family members get into situations that could have been avoided if only they had listened to me to either take steps to entirely avoid or at least mitigate problems that were snowballing.

What is most annoying is when I’ve tried to give advice to some people who are in some “groups” that have been Stuck in a Rut. Fussing & complaining about the way things are but they actually seem to like being “Stuck in a Rut” because they do not have to be.

What is the definition of “Insanity”? … wasn’t it something about “Doing the Same things over & over but expecting “Different Results”? but rather than doing something different & possibly having success there are those who are getting angry & digging their heels in, to not only stay in the rut but working hard to keep you in their rut as well…

Well NO Thank You! I’m NOT willingly going to be to staying in your rut. I’ll be fighting & trying new things & new twists on things until the very end. I’m telling you once again that it’s not too late to make the changes that are needed to get into a winning place. It may be hard but just being hard is not a good enough reason to not try at all.

Be willing to learn new ways & try new things & do so with the idea that “Hey this will be interesting to see the results” rather than with a defeatist attitude “Nothing will work so do not even bother to try”

Technology Love, Hate, Need?

Going through one of those days when Technology is fighting with me

Since I’m in the middle of another attempt to quit smoking I’m a bit easier to frustrate so the technology is winning this round For NOW…

Contrary to popular belief NOT Everything New is Good & Better than what is Tried & True so why do these social media companies insist upon “Breaking” what was working?

I went to facebook this afternoon & almost had a heart attack because suddenly some of my keys were not typing correctly – if I typed the letters in CapItol lEttErs I could get a word typed in but of course it didn’t look right & I wasn’t going to  just simply use ALL CAPS since I wasn’t yelling.

Facebook for some reason decided that it wanted to screw up I am a slow typist to begin with so after I posted about my problem I just left – came over here to post my little rant & will check back later on to see if after restarting my computer if Facebook has corrected their silliness or if all I’ll be doing is silent sharing or hanging out over on Blab & G+…

I Love Technology when it’s working the way it’s suppose to work, it enables me to talk to people from all over the world…

but when it’s screwing up I HATE Technology or actually it’s more that I hate when they “Break” the Technology to “Improve It” because that seems to be the main problem the programmers rush out a product that is full of bugs & problems & they do not spend any time in BETA with REAL PEOPLE & then once the bugs are all worked out start rolling it out slowly to those who want it first & eventually to everyone…

Well my rant is over; going to go spend a little time with my son who is home for a visit before he heads back to his ship in a couple more days.

Unfortunately my son said there isn’t such a place near him when he gets off the ship tonight down in LA but I do hope that one of the small diners near him in CutOff LA will in fact be offering free meals for our veterans too.

Sadly the pictures for some reason are no longer connected to the original blog post but this blast from the past brings happy memories.

How quickly 10+ years has passed, so many things have changed but yet how much has stayed the same… yes I still get frustrated at how slowly things get done if I require for lifting to be done but at this point I’m just ignoring it because there are other things to for me to do…

God will answer our prayers in His time & way in the mean time we must just Stand On His Promises & fight for our families on our knees.

 

 

Feeling God’s Peace Today

Just a quick happy & thankful to God post

Navy Son has been a great help getting the apt into order
Navy Son had the place all ready for the moving of the futons
afterwards Navy Son showed us navy life on his laptop
while we waited to see if Byron would in fact show up

i had sent Byron 2 emails 1 asking for him to pick up a few items
the 2nd showing how the 3 of us were sleeping widths in the futon
which had Navy Son’s feet hanging over the edge of the bed

i guess a picture truly does speak a thousand words
yesterday Byron showed up around 2:30p
Byron gave me a few dollars to pick up the items i emailed about
Byron said the other items will have to wait until this Thursday

i think Byron felt a bit uneasy about Navy Son being here
i suspect that Byron was worried about how Navy Son was going to feel about him
but he & Navy Son hugged & they got right to work
& the futons are now moved into the proper rooms

Byron was in a good mood & he & Navy Son chatted about guy stuff

while they worked on moving the futons into place
Byron spoke to Navy Son about prepping for civilian life afterwards
Byron’s career choice in the navy didn’t translate to civilian life
so Byron asked Navy Son about what Navy Son’s training choices are
& the importance of making sure that the choice will translate to

civilian life job-wise

Byron was acting like when we 1st got married
back in the days when we couldn’t keep our hands off of each other
it was a very pleasant surprise to see that Byron was copying
our brief stint into video back in 2003 & sending the pics to himself via email Byron was very helpful & not only got the beds moved with Navy Son but
also worked on a few of the kitchen items a bit
so now the convection oven is working
he also put up my 2 decorative cup holder racks for me to decorate the kitcheni told Byron about the free tv i got for the boys room
so after a short break Byron brought the tv up from the car
he tried to connect it to the vcr but we didn’t have the connector cables
it’s not the greatest of pictures but for free it’s ok
so now the boys (Navy Son & G-son) have a tv in their room & vcr

Byron called one of the Comcast cable guys so that
Byron could meet him & get some short connector cables since we had none
mission accomplished althou Byron did get lost trying to find cable guy
which made Byron a hero with G-son & we all gave a cheer when Byron got back

I’m in heaven right now with my family all home safe in CT
Oohh our family is a long way from perfect but I feel that
God gave me a glimpse of what is to come in the near future

I ask for continued prayers for my fathers health in his pending surgery
that my father may come thru this fine & that the doctors will be able to remove all cancer

I have a peace today & i was able to sleep so soundly last nite
even thou i was the only one in the apt after Byron & the kids left

many nites after daughter would leave i’d feel sad, last nite i didn’t
Navy Son & daughter took G-son home to her apt so they could spend some time together
I was happy to see them leaving together chatting about this weekend’s plans
i know that Navy Son’s time is slipping by sooo quickly
they need this time together to reconnect as brother & sister & uncle

i think the only person happier than me yesterday was G-son
who’s wish is for us to live Dallas style like when he came into this world knowing
Pop-pop, Mom-mom, Mommy, Uncle Navy Son & G-son altogether under 1 roof

i felt good & peaceful which i’ve not felt in a very long time
i even felt peace about my dad’s pending surgery Tuesday morning

i’m praying that everyone on the boards can feel the peace which i felt last nite
& today even it’s still with me
i can only feel that this is the peace which is an answer from God

that althou it may appear that God is slow in answering He does have answers
God will answer in His time which may seem slow to me or like He’s not listening
but in fact God is answering my prayers in His time as He knows Best

National Coffee Day 2015

Woo Hoo it’s National Coffee Day in the USA!

A day to celebrate those wonderful little beans which make life better. Have you Celebrated National Coffee Day by getting one of the Free Coffees that are being offered?

It’s a day where many places are offering a Small or Medium cup of Coffee for FREE.

I know that Dunkin Donuts is offering a Free Medium cup of their Dark Roast hot or cold. McD’s is offering only a Free Small cup of coffee. Cumberland Farms is also offering a Free Cup of Coffee but you have to text to them so check their site to get the details, I used to go there a lot but we no longer have a Cumbie’s near us. You might want to check to see what 7-11 is offering they usually go in for these Special Days events. That expensive Bux place that I do not go to unless forced to is not offering anything to it’s customers…

I’ve got a collection of travel mugs for coffee; I’ve given away most of them when we were downsizing to move but it’s slowly starting to build up again. Do you buy travel mugs from your most frequented coffee places?

I have 2 nice sized mugs for coffee to use at home this one pictured above was a gift from my Dad years ago so it’s special to me. Do you have a Special Mug for your coffee or tea?

Ask Questions Then Ponder the Answers

I was watching the people who came in & went into the polling station in Windsor on Tuesday May 12th 2015

It was interesting to see just how many people who showed up to vote actually didn’t even know why they were there & what the answers would mean if they made one of 2 choices

Frustrating as I worked the polls was that people would ask to see an explanation but there wasn’t one that actually clearly explained what the 2 options would mean to the voter & working the polls we workers have to be Unbiased so we can’t give detailed answers as to how people should vote

A YES vote = Higher Taxes if the Budget Passed

A No Vote = No Higher Taxes Wanted & if the Budget Failed it goes back to the Town Council to Adjust

The School Board portion of the budget is almost 3 times that of the rest of the town budget but no one really understands why it costs so much because “the powers that be” aren’t really honest about where & what the budget money is being spent on (besides the excess of 6 figure employees) so parents are conned into thinking that pre-k is the solution to a problem that is actually created by the flawed system that is designed to fail the students …

Can you afford an out of control Board of Ed that spends money without consideration of the costs for both our taxpaying families now but also in the future 3, 5 even 10 years down the road?

Can you afford to allow an out of control Board of Ed to experiment with your children’s education with implementing programs that do not work. These schemes are only profiting big corporations while giving our children a substandard education as is being proven time & again with the common core not only here in Windsor but across the nation?

Can you afford to not start asking questions about why the Board of Ed so divided?

Why the democrats are refusing to answer the questions that the Republican BoE members are asking?

Why are the democrats complaining about the Budget Referendum Voting Process when they lose but not when they win?

Why are the democrats trying to push for our Right to Say NO to the Budget AWAY? Who are they to say that We the People who Pay the Taxes Do Not Deserve Our Right to Say NO?

Taxation Without Representation ring a bell? The rich tyrants in the democrat party are trying to force us into debt & out of our homes so that they can pay their crony friends 6 figure salaries at our expense! The tyrants are angry because when we vote NO to their budgets they have to cut back the plans they have to give away our money to their schemes…

Can you afford to keep granting more & more money to the Board of Ed when they have mismanaged the money they already been given over the years? The school budget has been steadily increasing but we’re not seeing positive results from all of our sacrifices. Private & Magnet Schools spend less money & graduate their students at a higher rate & better educated.

The problem is how the administration of the schools & the expensive testing being done that takes away from learning time & the common core curriculum

If you are tired of paying increasing taxes while not seeing results in education & suffering reductions in town services; then it is time for you to call the town hall & tell them to #StopTheOutOfControlBoardOfEd

Tiny House Adventures in Spring

Just came across this blog of a couple here in CT that are building their own Tiny Home.
It’s so cool that they can tow their home like a camper but it looks like a house instead of a camper once it’s parked.
It’s been a bream of mine to get an RV & travel across the country even before I discovered the internet & now have friends in literally all across the country to go visit.
The Tiny Home would be nice to have as a traveling home & pick up a piece of land in warmer climate to go settle on during the winter months when we get older & the idea of having all that snow to deal with wouldn’t be so nice…
I plan on following their blog to see how they progress as they build & compare costs to just buying a RV instead.

Our tiny house is not even finished on the inside yet but it has already visited three different corners of Connecticut – Fairfield, Putnam and Westerly.  Towing it was a lot of fun and we are very relieved to realize how easy it is.  If you are here because you have seen us on the road, please do not hesitate to tell us. 🙂

On Saturday, April 25th,  we met a group of people from Tumbleweed Tiny House Company’s workshop at a Service Center along I-95 in the Southwestern part of the state.  Towing our tiny house for the very first time was connected to an enormous variety of emotions. The first ones were fear and tension because we were afraid of making mistakes, damaging our house or even getting pulled over by the police…

Sad State of Affairs

This is one of those posts both personal & political…

A dear friend is going through that mixed emotions of secondary empty nester as her adult son leaves the state.I say secondary because our adult children were already out of our nests but living here in the state only a town or two & a phone call & less than hours drive away…

We’re proud of our children who have grown up into young men & women that are making their own ways in this world; but we are heart broken that our young men & women are finding it so bad in our state that they are having to move out of CT in order to find better paying jobs in states that aren’t robbing them blind in taxes.

Like I said this both personal & political & now for my rant as it makes me angry that so many people merely vote on the party line without thinking about why they are voting nor asking if what the pipe dreams being promoted by the democrats is in fact actually possible – wake up people nothing is free someone has to pay for it in money & time & energy & at a certain point we run out of people to take money from to give to those who are merely taking without earning.

The rich started leaving our state years ago because they can afford to move anywhere so once the income tax was put in place those people just changed the location of where they claimed as their state of domicile.

The past 4 businesses have been leaving at an increasing rate & along with those businesses good paying jobs & tax paying families. With each major business closing or leaving the state that has affected smaller supporting businesses around the state. Less businesses = less jobs = less taxing families to pay the state’s increasing spending which makes the state increase the taxes on the rest of us to make up the difference instead of cutting spending.

So our children must leave the state they’ve grown up in to find good paying jobs & affordable homes to purchase for their families. Sad to see them go we send them off because we know that in other states they will have a better chance for success than if they were to stay here in CT.

Will we see our grandchildren for more than 2 weeks out of the year? Sadly it’s not likely with our children moving out of the region to find better lives. It makes us angry that our children have to go out of the state to find a decent job & affordable homes to purchase all because the career elite democrats refuse to listen to us taxpaying citizens & only care about making their friends richer by increasing our taxes to pay for the sweetheart deals they’re making.

Are You Taxed Enough Already?

Vlogging, Blogging, Journaling, Writing a Diary the ways in which we tell our story share our feelings & vent our frustrations has changed over the years but I was thinking about it as I was reading some of my old posts these writing tools are in a small way a piece of history, maybe not super important changing the world history but still the history of a family.

Like many others who blog I’ve shared some not so nice feelings, but since this is part of our family history & they were thoughts & feelings & part of the healing process I am going to work to preserve & gather the posts from around the various places & stitch them together here.

As the title indicates this is a blog post from 5 years ago – sometimes the mundane is in reality a blessing it all depends upon how you look at it…

Looking back at the posts is a blessing yes some of the posts bring tears to my eyes while others are making me laugh  but all of them are making me thankful as I see how God has worked in our lives & used some of those hard times to shape me & our family & HE is not done with us yet…. what will the next 5 years bring?

How many are sitting & crying out there?

A grey rainy day can be at times depressing when looked at in the wrong frame of mind

Rain is considered to be a Blessing from God by farmers & in the Bible

Although your outside plans for today may have been cancelled due to rain today

Have you considered how the rain is blessing you?

Is your lawn & garden getting a free watering?

Are you drinking a cool glass of lemonade or koolaid? 

Well the rain has replenished the reservoir or well that you got the water for your coffee even

So stop your tears & say Thank You for the small blessings of rain
